Dr. Emily Ehmann

Dr. Emily Ehmann

Owner, VMD

Dr. Emily Ehmann has been passionate about veterinary medicine for as long as she can remember. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and completed rotating and surgical internships to further develop her clinical skills. She later worked as an emergency veterinarian in New York City, where she gained extensive experience managing critical cases and urgent situations.

Her clinical interests include respiratory disease, trauma, toxicities, and pain management, and she brings this experience into her work at Modern Vet Care. As the founder of the clinic, Dr. Ehmann is committed to providing thoughtful, personalized care for every patient while building strong relationships with pet owners in the Astoria community.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Ehmann is passionate about foster work, especially bottle-raising kittens. She shares her home with her dog, Andi, and four cats—Hector, Essie, Francis, and Farrah. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, biking, hiking, and spending time outdoors, and is also a fan of Marvel films.

Practice Manager

Clessie brings over 10 years of experience in the veterinary field and serves as Practice Manager at Modern Vet Care. With a strong background in both client service and patient care, she plays a key role in ensuring the clinic runs smoothly while helping create a welcoming and supportive experience for every client and pet who visits.

Her experience working in multiple areas of veterinary medicine gives her a unique understanding of both the medical and operational sides of the practice. From coordinating daily operations to supporting clients and the veterinary team, Clessie is dedicated to providing exceptional care and helping every visit feel seamless and personalized.

A devoted pet owner herself, Clessie shares her home with her dog, Ella, and her two cats, Rhysand and Lilith. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with Ella and spending time with her family. She looks forward to meeting every new pet and family that becomes part of the Modern Vet Care community.

Veterinary Assistant

Chris has been a veterinary technician for 15 years and has always loved animals. He enjoys helping pets receive the medical care they need while supporting and guiding their owners. His favorite appointments are puppy and kitten visits, where he helps new pet parents give their pets the best start possible.

When he’s not at the clinic, Chris enjoys playing and watching sports and spending time with his wife and daughter. He also has a Pekingese mix he rescued from Ecuador.

Receptionist

Yoseline has worked in the veterinary field for four years and was inspired to join by her love and compassion for animals. She enjoys helping clients feel welcomed, heard, and cared for while ensuring their pets have a positive experience at the clinic. Her favorite appointments are puppy visits, where she meets the newest furry family members.

Outside of work, Yoseline enjoys spending time with family and friends and relaxing with her favorite TV shows. While she doesn’t currently have pets of her own, she loves spending time with the pets of family and friends and hopes to have one of her own someday.

Hospital Greeter

Farrah is one of the familiar faces clients may see when visiting Modern Vet Care. At around 15 years old, she has a calm and sweet personality and enjoys quietly observing the activity at the front desk.

She often keeps watch over the clinic and occasionally greets clients and their pets. Farrah also enjoys playing with her toys and, from time to time, knocking over the treat bowl, adding a bit of personality to the clinic environment.

Ferris has spent much of his life at the veterinary clinic and enjoys being part of the daily routine. Around 14 years old, he can often be found greeting clients, relaxing by the window, or enjoying attention from visitors.

With access to plenty of treats and affection, Ferris has fully embraced his role as part of the team and contributes to the welcoming, relaxed atmosphere that Modern Vet Care aims to provide.

Summer Veterinary Assistant

Hannah has been working in veterinary medicine for over two years and is currently pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. As a summer team member, she is gaining valuable hands-on experience before continuing her education and applying to veterinary school.

Her favorite areas of veterinary medicine include blood draws and assisting with surgery, where she enjoys playing an active role in patient care. Hannah is passionate about animal health and enjoys helping pet owners better understand their pets’ medical needs.

Outside of the clinic, Hannah enjoys hiking and reading. She shares her home with a three-year-old mixed-breed dog and a two-year-old tuxedo cat who keep her busy when she’s not studying or working.

Per Diem Veterinary Assistant

Meara brings 5–6 years of veterinary experience to the Modern Vet Care team. Her love for animals began early in life, growing up around them and working on a farm before transitioning into veterinary medicine. She is passionate about being a voice for animals and helping pet owners provide the best possible care for their companions.

Meara especially enjoys working with nervous or anxious pets during annual visits, taking the time to help them feel comfortable and build confidence in the veterinary setting. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll likely find her outdoors at the beach, fishing, or in the gym. She also enjoys collecting figurines. Meara shares her home with two black cats, Evee and Skitty—one a rescue and the other born right here at Modern Vet Care after a rescued stray was taken in—as well as Franklin, her Russian tortoise.
